Balloon Fiesta is Coming!

Balloon Fiesta is Coming!

The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta began as a collection of 13 balloons in the Coronado Center Mall parking lot in 1972.  Held each year thereafter during the first week of October, the Balloon Fiesta has grown to become the largest ballooning event in the world.  In 2017, the Balloon Fiesta attracted just under one million attendees from dozens of countries around the world. In total, the Fiesta's total financial impact on commercial industries in the metro area amounted to just over $200 million in 2017.  This is definitely something you don’t want to miss out on! We’d like to answer some of the most commonly submitted FAQs about the Fiesta in order to help you get the most out of your experience at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta!

When should I arrive at the Balloon Fiesta Park?

It’s important to keep in mind that sometimes the crowds at the Balloon Fiesta can reach 80,000-100,000 people.  Arriving sooner is always better. If you are interested in attending the Mass Ascension events early in the morning, plan to arrive at 4:00 - 4:30 in the morning.  A mass ascension is when all 500+ balloons launch from Balloon Fiesta Park at the same time. Evening events start at 3:00pm, so do your best to be there by 4:00pm at the latest.

Where do I park?

There are parking areas provided at the Fiesta.  Each parking area is color and number coded, so it’s imperative that you remember the color and number of your parking space.  Parking costs $15 for every session you spend at the park. The Fiesta has morning sessions and evening sessions. There are also Park and Ride options where a bus shuttles you to the fiesta at a discounted price.

How can I purchase tickets for Balloon Fiesta?
