Career Fair Coming Soon
The fall Career Fair is around the corner, and if you’d like to have a summer internship and/or be employed after graduation (you like money, right?) it’s time to start preparing. Tristine Hayward of Career Services explains, “It’s a common misconception that spring career fair is the time to get internships. Fall is a bigger fair, with more than 20 companies. Especially for internships… A lot of companies want to fill things early, and come back just to fill any remaining slots in the spring.”
Tristine says there are three essential things to prepare for the ultimate fair experience: a polished resume, slick interviewing skills, and professional attire. Career Services can help with every aspect, from clothes (“The career closet is crammed full, people need to check out clothes!”), to flash resume reviews and mock interviews. There are more workshops than ever available this year, including some in the evening. Plus, you can stop by any time to polish up that resume or interview technique ahead of an interview.
Didn’t have a chance to prepare? Tristine recommends you come anyway, even in jeans and a t-shirt. This year’s fair will feature five new companies and several graduate schools, all eager to hire Techies. And remember, “Don’t be discouraged! They’ll know your name and can recommend you.”
